People like to feed and pet deer and take pictures of them, but like most wild animals, it’s best to leave them be. Otherwise, they may start to think that hanging around humans is a pretty good deal,

Because deer are more active at dawn and after dark, you might only know they are around from their droppings in the shape of small pellets piled together, or hoof prints recognizable by their two pointed toes. Other signs include large kidney-shaped “beds” of flattened vegetation where they sleep at night, or debarked trunks a few feet above the ground during mating season.

Deer In Your Forest

Deer are devastating to public and private forests, causing drastic change in the composition of the understorey. They will feed on all plant life they can reach, from shrubbery, herbaceous plants, seedlings and everything green up to several feet on trees.
When you have a large enough group of deer, they may feast on their favorite plants first, completely removing a species from the area.
They will also damage trees in the fall leading up to the rut, as stags will ringbark young trees to mark territory and remove the velvet from their antlers.

Deer Around Humans

When they find themselves at risk, deer can kick with their legs, sometimes causing serious injury to animals or humans. And when does are nurturing their young in late spring and summer, they can exhibit aggressive behavior toward perceived threats. Deer also carry dangerous pests such as fleas and ticks and can even suffer from chronic wasting disease, an infection similar to mad cow disease that may be contagious for humans. When you encounter a deer on or near your property, call an animal control specialist immediately.

Deer Repelling and Exclusion

After assessing the situation, we will usually initiate a deer repellant program, and we may recommend fence construction, landscape modification, deer relocation or requesting for a deer depredation permit in accordance with applicable laws. We know how to get rid of deer and have years of experience of removing them. Deer control is one of our specialties at AAAC Wildlife Removal.

Deer Trapping

In most circumstances it is unnecessary to trap deer. If a situation demands trapping, however, our specialists can provide the planning and the professional procedures that will enable deer to be trapped and removed without causing them any harm.
